The Humminbird PiranhaMAX 195c fish finder features an easy-to-use interface, depth alarms, fish alarms and smooth zooming capabilities. All you need to do is mount the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 195c, and it displays everything on the Color TFT screen. The PiranhaMAX 195c system utilizes features such as a dual beam, fish ID, sonar beam. The Humminbird PiranhaMAX 195c is solidly made hence it can survive accidental falls. The Fish Alarms sound once the fish is detected by the fish finder.
The PiranhaMAX 195c’s transducer beam is so powerful, you will be able to distinguish between two things underwater that are just 2.5 inches apart. So if its a fish lurking around a rock or a tree, even if it’s just 2.5 inches away from it, you will still be able to see it ok!
The PiranhaMAX 195c display is nice and readable in bright sunlight. The device is weather resistant and can easily be connected or disconnected without the worry of tangled wires. The mounts are twist and swivel which provide the option for different viewing angles. The screen is vivid and does not reflect objects within its field of view.
With 200W of power, you can see as deep as 200 feet when you are on the 200kHz frequency. A really neat feature of the 195c is that its second frequency is 455 kHz – which is the starting frequency for most Down Imaging fish finders – so you get a taste of that technology too! Down Imaging draws exceptionally accurate pictures of the underwater world by using a very high frequency beam(455 kHz in this case). The readings will be displayed on a neat 3.5″ color display that has a resolution of 320 by 240.
The mechanism behind the Dual Beam is that a narrowly focused middle beam is surrounded by another second beam of 60º. This expands the coverage to an area equal your depth. It means that if you are in a place with 20 feet depth, the wider beam will cover an area 20 feet wide. The middle/center beam is mainly focused on the bottom part of the water; this shows your structure, cover and weeds. The second beam’s main function is to locate and find fish in the wider area of coverage. Both beams can be used independently, but for better, clearer pictures, both are combined for use. Everything going on underneath the boat is brought onto display.
Requires one 12V battery (which does not come with the box), and comes with a 1 year warranty, like all the other Humminbird fish finder models.
All in all, the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 195c is great for a small boat, easy to use without too many sophisticated features. It’s not a bad choice for the price, does everything a fish finder should do, in other words, tracks fish, measures depth and water temperature and will surely improve your angling experience.
